A Couple Tips and Tricks to Stay Busy at Home

Some of us stay “busy” or on track with our usual routine and/or a daily planner to follow, but then there are those who prefer to live life via spontaneity. I swing between the two, myself. Oh, and that’s when I can find my planner, and if I even wrote what I planned to accomplish in it. Are you with me? When my spontaneity takes me for a ride too far into the unknown, I find myself grabbing my agenda for protocol to help me find solid ground. Another life-giving continual resource in my life is my Bible...The Bible. God’s word is my navigational source for every aspect of my life. I must confess (they say confession is good for the soul) at times I allow the perceived tyranny of the urgent to be louder than the still small voice that calls me to my quiet time with my Savior, Jesus. It is at those moments I glean the comfort of God’s grace for the step I’m on. God is all about adjusting one’s perspective to align with His plans and purposes for our lives. Romans 8:28

Here are a couple Tips and Tricks to keep you busy, physically, mentally, and spiritually during the solace of keeping 6 feet apart, streets apart, cities apart, states apart, and a world apart from each other during Covid19...the new normal:

1. Embrace a new perspective on “busy”. Busy does not have to be physically active to be productive. Actually, you can be really busy spinning your wheels, and get nothing

one. Busy can be a mind game of sorting through and categorizing your agenda for t he day, cleaning or reorganizing various rooms or spaces in your home. Perhaps, like

me, it is time to be busy outside your home in the garden or maybe doing something

new with your front porch? Busy can be a success when measured by what you have

accomplished. Whether it is the empty boxes going into the trash from cleaning out

your crowded basement, or finishing that book you wanted to read,

Give yourself the freedom to see busy through a new lens:

2. you get to know via frequent friendly correspondence.. This is a lost art and form of creating bonds and connections not based on proximity to each involved, but merely sharing interests and addresses to invest in a friendship that is Covid safe. Yet, my world has enlarged watching Ashley’s excitement when a box or envelope comes in the mail from one corner of the world or another. Her penpals via social media sent her a compilation of “Happy Birthdays”. Can someone say, “Priceless memory made”? So, whether you sing a song, write a note, send a small gift (homemade or bought), think about enlarging your world and connect with a penpal.
